Please note any books and materials needed, as well as any ADDITIONAL fees. (See chart below.)

ALL 5th-8th students are responsible for completing ALL assignments (both in class AND at home).

ALL 5th-8th students MUST bring notebook paper, pencil, pen, and planner EVERYDAY.

All 5th-8th students will attend Assembly each day.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS (Alphabetical by class name)

ART– This class will guide students in the development of their artistic talents. This is done by first teaching students how to acquire the visual perception of an artist. The individual style of each student grows as they explore a variety of medias, artistic styles, and techniques. Students will gain the confidence needed to express individual creativity.  Class offered to 5th-8th graders.

BOOK CLUB– This class will read novels and do projects that correlate to them.  ***NEW BOOKS each year*** Class offered to 5th-8th graders.

Books Needed: Books MUST be purchased by parents and brought to EVERY class!  Books may be purchased throughout the year as needed.  Siblings can share books.  Books will include the following:

COOKING– This class will learn the basics of cooking.  Class offered to 5th-8th graders.

GETTING TO KNOW THE BIBLE– This class will study stories in the Bible.  Taught by Asbury’s pastor, Chris.  Class offered to 5th-8th graders.

Books Needed: Bible (MUST be brought to EVERY class!)

MUSIC– In this class, students will explore musical concepts in a group setting.  Music students will have the opportunity to perform during the school year.  Class offered to 5th-8th graders.

  • Binder (1in.)
  • 10 Clear Sheet Protectors

Books Needed: none

P.E. (Physical Education)– This class will focus on physical fitness while doing gross motor activities and group games.  Class offered to 5th-8th graders.

Supplies Needed:

  • solid athletic shoes
  • reusable water bottle (with name on it)
  • dress appropriately for the weather

SCIENCE5th & 6th Grade– This class will introduce students to earthquakes, volcanoes, weathering, natural resources, cells, classification system, reproduction, genetics, atoms, molecules, motion, machines, and the nervous & immune systems.  This class will include fun and exciting experiments and science projects.  ALL 5th & 6th graders will take Science each day.

Books Needed: BJU Science 5 (4th Edition) TEXTBOOK ONLY and ACTIVITY MANUAL (Siblings can share TEXTBOOK, but NOT activity manual.  Purchase only one textbook per family.)

SCIENCE7th & 8th Grade– In this class the basics of science are covered, including classification of species, cell structure, relationships among organisms, genetics, microbiology, botany, zoology, and ecology, as well as more complicated topics such as evolution and creation, reproduction, and man’s relationship to the environment.  This class will include experiments and science projects.  ALL 7th & 8th graders will take Science each day.

Books Needed: Apologia General Science (3rd Edition) TEXTBOOK (Siblings can share.  Purchase only one textbook per family.)

STORY OF THE WORLD VOLUME 45th & 6th Grade– This class will study The Modern Age: From Victoria’s Empire to the End of the USSR.  ALL 5th & 6th graders will take Story of the World History each day.

Books Needed: Story of the World Volume 4 TEXTBOOK (Siblings can share.  Purchase only one textbook per family.)

TEXAS HISTORY7th & 8th Grade– This class will have a basic overview of Texas History.  ALL 7th & 8th graders take Texas History each day.

WRITING5th & 6th Grade– In this class, the students will use a wide variety of adventures to supply a rich foundation for imaginative and enjoyable writing, all while they learn to write with Structure and Style.  ALL 5th & 6th graders take Writing each day.

Books Needed: IEW Fables, Myths, & Fairy Tales Writing Lessons Student Book

WRITING- 7th & 8th Grade– This class uses IEW Bible-Based curriculum that provides an incredible opportunity to increase your students’ understanding of Scripture as they improve their writing abilities.  ALL 7th & 8th graders take Writing each day.
