“The chief end of humanity is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever”.
The centerpiece of this dynamic at Asbury UMC is our weekly worship gatherings. We are committed to give God glory through the singing and praying of hymns and spiritual songs, through fellowship and caring for one another, and through the word of God faithfully for the build up of God’s people.
This is “job one” for every disciple of Jesus. It’s the one thing we can do here on earth that we will not have the opportunity to do in eternity.
Our Youth and Children’s ministries are at the heart of our life together. From the earliest stages of their lives, our kids are taught about the Christian faith through Sunday School, Children’s Messages, Children’s Church, Power Hour, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation Class and our Youth ministry activities.
“Mercy Ministries” are a vital part of Asbury. Our Toy Store provides toys for hundreds of families who cannot afford much in the way of Christmas gifts. Asbury Relief Ministry (A.R.M.) provides food for more than 60 families a week in Denton County. Asbury Men’s and Women’s groups provide funding and other necessities for our church and community within Denton and beyond. Care for our elderly and infirm is provided by lay ministry volunteers under pastoral direction.
“Discipleship” is the process by which we become all that God has created us to be. This happens as we connect with and practice following Jesus, and through developing and using all that God has given us for the building of His Kingdom.
